The Log Yard was started by Simon & Annie Bolt in 2017, following a career as a joiner and bespoke kitchen manufacturer. In 2026, Simon & Annie decided to retire, the reins have been passed across to Richard Perkins. Richard has been running nearby Luggford Logs since 2019.  

Richard's locally sourced timber and attention to quality gave Simon the reassurance his customers would be in great hands going forwards.  

We are committed to sustainability and responsible forestry practices. We only source our firewood from local Herefordshire woodland that are sustainably managed, and we ensure that our delivery vehicles are fuel-efficient and eco-friendly. 

By seasoning our logs instead of kiln drying, we avoid unnecessary C02 emissions

At The Log Yard we are passionate about providing a quality product at a fair price and so all our firewood once processed is air dried and barn stored to ensure our logs are supplied READY TO BURN at  less than 20% or lower moisture content.  

Our Logs are Hardwood, 8” – 9” long, cut to mixed sizes small, medium and large.

We naturally air dry out firewood, patiently. This takes 1-2 years depending on the species and ensures it is READY TO BURN  at less than 20% moisture content. 

As a local provider of wood fuel, The Log Yard Hereford is making it easy for customers to find wood fuels that have been certified as Ready to Burn and that meet new legal requirements that came into force from 1 May 2021 in England.
